A snowy day is a perfect day to bake!

Today we woke up in a surreal white Cleveland, and it was still snowing a bit...
Little did i know that there would have been much more snow today!

Here you can see the amount of snow coming down...but to watch it live was much more interesting: everything was white: the sky, the air, the backyard...

This afternoon, while the older kids were having fun with sleds at the park, i baked two marble sponge cakes, under supervision of Moshe
that kept asking if i was gonna put "choconut" in the cake...
Here is a picture of one of them:

And here is the recipe for one of these cakes:

Marble Sponge Cake6 eggs, separated
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons vanilla sugar
Cocoa powder, as much as you want, starting with 1/2 cup

Whip the egg whites; in another bowl, mix the yolks with the sugar until light yellow and foamy.
Add one cup of flour, then add a few spoons of egg whites and fold in the batter very gently.
Add the rest of the flour, then the egg whites, folding them into the batter and incorporating as much air as possible.
Pour half the batter into a mold ( i used a silicon one), and add cocoa powder to the rest, until the batter has a medium brown color.
Pour the chocolate batter in the center of the cake, and swirl it into the vanilla batter with a toothpick.
Bake in a preheated oven (350 F) until firm.
Enjoy with a cup of hot cocoa or your favourite drink!
