Proust and the madeleines

The cookie-Proust
I finally found the excerpt where Proust writes about the connection between memories and things: for him it was the madeleines, these pastries that he would eat by his aunt, now deceased...his mother offers him the same thing, and the flavor opens up the room of his memories, it becomes present, the world around him is affected by his own memories...

It happens to me too, sometimes it's the Dior perfume my mother bought me many years ago, it brings back her voice and her laugh...sometimes is the smell of sawdust that is all over when Alec is working with wood, it reminds me of my grandpa the carpenter and his workshop where is spent most of my childhood...those are my madeleines.
