Successful Shopping Trip!
This afternoon i went shopping to Giant Eagle, with a pretty long shopping list and...a big stack of coupons!
I started couponing when we arrived to America, because in Europe there are almost no coupons...
I watched my mother in law shopping with some coupons, read a few blogs written by ladies that try to lie frugally or at least to get more stuff for the money, and then i started watching Extreme Couponing on YouTube.
Those ladies are obsessed with coupons, and i often think that there is no real store that has such good coupon policy...but it's still good to watch to get a few tips :)
Another thing to keep in mind is that when you eat strictly kosher it's much harder to do couponing!!!
Anyway, it took me a couple of hours to complete my shopping today, and when i saw that the total was down to a bit more than a dollar i was really happy...mission accomplished!!
Of course, it doesn't always happen, and items like milk or chicken are expensive, but it's good to save on other things, like paper goods or cereal, specially with 4 kids and a lot of guests coming and going :)

I too love the idea of coupons but find that most of what I buy doesn't have a coupon. We don't really do cereal and to be green we've cut down on most of our use of paper goods (but you'll never see me without the toilet paper! lol) Are there coupons for wine, good cheese, olives, rustic bread and produce?
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's hard to find coupons for these kinds of food, and our local kosher store definitely doesn't accept any coupons...so i use coupons for what i can, sometimes there are great deals on shampoo, or hand soap...so that's when i use them...
ReplyDeleteWe use paper goods mostly on Shabbat because there is way too much going on, i wouldn't be able to keep up with the dishes...but food looks so much better on real plates!!!
