Winter is definitely here!
Winter came all of a sudden in Cleveland! The first day of winter we had the first serious snowfall...and that's when i stocked up in cocoa, potatoes and other staples, getting ready for the cold weather.
And the cold sure came! This picture is from the first days of snow, the famous storm that covered the whole north east with snow...after this, it has been snowing on and off every day, and our garden chairs are covered with a thick pillow of snow by now :)
I must say that i really like the snow, looking outside at those silent white fluffs coming down, it gives me a sense of peace...much better than rain, i remember those high school days waiting for the bus home, soaked...
A few days ago a couple of deer came in our backyard, visibly looking for food, and after a little unsuccessful research they leaped away...beautiful animals, quiet like the snow.
The kids have been going sledding a lot, and Alec yesterday even made a bonfire for them, and they roasted marshmallows and ate potatoes baked in the ashes...
I found chestnuts in Giant Eagle and bought a bunch, even the price is comparable to that of a rare delicacy (they ARE imported from Italy, i found out), and now they are roasting in the oven, can't wait to taste them piping hot, sweet and floury...and then chocolate pie, a surprise to the kids :)
