EAT PRAY LOVE
Last night Alec and I watched the movie Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts...here is the trailer for whoever is interested.
I found this movie to be a pretty good description of the path of search that many Jews and Jews-to-be go through before reaching their "equilibrium", before feeling finally at home.
The lady in the movie has an incredible thirst for life, she starts a sort of communication with G-d that brings her to meditation and other Oriental philosophies, she dumps her mild and unsatisfying sentimental life, and just goes.
She breaks her own prejudices and self imposed rules, she runs to Italy with a suitcase and looks for a new life, where she will finally feel in place, she goes to India for her challenge in just "shutting herself up", looking at the world with different eyes, and then she goes to Bali, to try her new wings and find her "bashert" that is just waiting for her to stop being afraid of living life with passion...and where is her balance found? Spirituality and materiality have to both exist, it's ok to "loose temporarily the spiritual balance" to join materiality for the supreme balance, to elevate the material with the spiritual...
It's good when movies make you think...
